Google blocked 8 apps that are harmful to Bitcoin users

Google is taking a stand against malicious cryptocurrency apps by banning 8 of them from their app store.

Google recently announced that it would restrict access to eight applications through its play store unless developers show their safeguards against hacking and other cyber attacks.

These are the eight applications that Google has indicated:

  1. Bitcoin (BTC) – Pool Mining Cloud Wallet
  2. Crypto Holic
  3. Ethereum (ETH) – Pool Mining Cloud.BitFunds
  4. Bitcoin 2021
  5. MineBit Pro
  6. Bitcoin Miner
  7. Daily Bitcoin Rewards – Cloud Based Mining System
  8. BitFunds

According to Google’s investigation’s research results, these apps were designed to trick cryptocurrency users into installing them on their smartphones without their knowledge. They urged users to become members of Investment in cloud computing services to generate substantial profits.

Trend Micro, a security company, found eight of the banned applications forced users to view ads. These programs cost an average of $115 per month. App developers suggested that they could invest in “machines” used for cloud mining to pay for more mining power.

Trend Micro also claims that more than 120 bogus cryptocurrency mining applications are still available for download on the internet. According to the company, these apps were used to deceive over 4500 users in the last year.
