Vitalik Buterin, the inventor of Ethereum (ETH), thinks there are now three significant prospects in the cryptocurrency business.
Buterin spoke on an edition of the Bankless podcast to discuss the three largest prospects he presently sees in the crypto industry.
While admitting that there are fewer clear opportunities than in the past, the developer of Ethereum identifies crypto wallets as one “massive” prospect.
“Currently, there is definitely less low-hanging fruit, and I believe it’s crucial to realise this. I believe there are a lot of possibilities, such as developing a wallet that a billion people will use.
Next, Buterin believes that stablecoins will likely be the next significant breakthrough in the cryptocurrency market.
Great potential exists if you can design a stablecoin that will seem like a lifeline for everyone suffering through a crisis, such as a US currency hyperinflation.
The third potential identified by Buterin is the use of cryptocurrency to challenge the dominance of Big Tech on the internet.
If you can make Ethereum authentication work, and if you can substitute Facebook, and Google as the dominant login providers on the internet, that’s a massive potential in and of itself, right? And there are still enormous structures on claims that can be constructed, but with more difficulty.” At the time of writing, the price of ETH is $1,175, an increase of 0.17% in the previous 24 hours.
