Florida Governor Rob DeSantis is a cryptocurrency enthusiast. He was recently quoted saying he would like to see public cryptocurrency payments in Florida.
Governor Rob DeSantis of Florida says that state governments must let local businesses pay state fees with bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies. The politician also talked about the actual use of blockchain technology in the state government.
Cryptocurrency Payments
The Florida Governor wants to let businesses in his state pay state fees with digital assets like bitcoin. He said that pilot programs are already underway to see how blockchain technology can keep track of motor vehicle records and make sure that Medicaid settlements are legitimate.
Medicaid is a state social assistance program in the United States that helps people and families whose incomes aren’t enough to pay for health care.
During a lecture in Tallahassee, Florida, Ron DeSantis discussed his concept. According to him, organizations operating inside the state of Florida’s jurisdiction should be allowed to pay state fees directly to the Department of State using digital assets rather than cash.
DeSantis hopes that Floridians will start using the cryptocurrency bitcoin as a currency in everyday transactions, such as paying for government services to help alleviate cash shortages across Florida.
As part of his recommendations, he advocated allocating $250,000 from the state’s overall budget to assist the Department of Highway and Motor Vehicles’ Blockchain Title pilot program. He went on to say that bitcoin technology might be beneficial when it comes to monitoring automobile registrations. In addition, he wants to adopt blockchain technology in the Florida Health Care Administration Agency, as it can verify transactions in the Medicaid system and identify any fraud in the process.
